To accomplish this He has given you His Word, His Spirit, and the blood of His Son Jesus. Jesus, the sinless Son of God, took your place. God’s wrath was moved from mankind and placed on Jesus. As long as you live under His protection, Jesus continues to cover your sins.
God does not remember your previous sins, nor holds them against you. You remain under this protection as long as you continue to place your faith in Jesus. When you take your eyes off the Creator, and spend more time looking or lusting after part of His creation, you are starting to slip out from under His protection.
